Hanging Lamp

canvas lightscanvas lights 2These canvass lights captured my attention at the same Anthropologie in NY as the paper airplanes cluster. This looks like a great DIY to achieve out of left over scraps of fabrics and a great way to introduce some color and eclecticism. Or you can do what Anthropologie did and keep them neutral and airy in light canvass. I love that the shapes are amorphous, so even if you are not a sewing genius, seems like you can’t go wrong!

Accent Chairs

Accent chairs can be expensive. Interesting materials and a compelling design make for a great accent chair. Window shopping inspiration from NY brings the plywood chair as part of the AKRIS Window installation. I think this chair would work great as an accent even with the wood stamps still on it. I love the shape [...]

Birch Tree Lamp and Log Lamp

To add a little taste of nature to your own space, how about these modified tree designs that have DIY written all over them. I am a big fan of birch tree bark lamps and actually prefer them with no wholes and just the thin stripped bark, because it glows amber. But this twist on the design is original and fun too.
The log is nice if you have high enough ceilings to pull it off and if you can find the studs to hang it. I think it would be pretty fun above a dining table. What do you think? Oh and I’m also a fan of the pebble wall behind the log lamp. This is at Amber on Third Avenue and 80th Street in NY – an Asian bistro, sushi bar and lounge. They have some pretty fun drinks and new twists on the old martinis.

Store Front Decor Inspirations

Black and yellow stripes and sticks! These store front creations are giving me a lot to get excited about. I love the color schemes and the details that went into making them work.

From the sculptural installation above Aldo and how it adds depth to the Kate Spade gold wall that breathes life and energy into the space.

The painted black and white stripes on the side walk pull you into the Kate Spade store from the outside. The sparkley gold wall made up of hundreds of little plastic gold ovals makes the space move, breathe and sparkle. How can you use these concepts in your home?

How about some black and white striped inspiration or some striped hallways or some black, white and yellow color scheme combinations!

Modern Home Smell – Coffee Trick

I just flew on Virgin America yesterday and noticed that the bathrooms had little baggies of coffee hanging on the door hooks. It makes perfect scent…I mean sense. When you go to the perfume counter they always have coffee for you to clear the previous smell before you smell the next perfume. [...]
