These Marimekko plates are fun, but I'm particularly struck by how well black and white stripes work with other colorful patterns.  I love observing how multiple patterns work together particularly when they work well.]]></description>

In lieu of Apartment Therapy's color contest I am sharing my dining room color scheme.  It is white, cream, burnt orange and turquoise with dark wood.  I like punches of color in furniture and accents and soothing colors on the walls.

If you're looking for an easy art piece, I wound some twine around a white canvass and placed it on top of a beach matte on the wall.

If you like the deer head and you want one, let me know and I can paint one for you your color of choice.

That unusual green works wonderfully with the black and white Imperial Trellis and gray ceiling. I have never been to a home that has a largely white room.  Is it tough to keep up, I wonder?  Half the battle is keeping my somewhat minimalist apartment...well...minimally cluttered. 		<description><![CDATA[What a soothing color scheme.  <a href="http://www.elementsofstyleblog.com/2009/01/home-heist.html"><span style="color: rgb(204, 102, 0);">Elements of Style</span></a> has an extensive post on the before and afters from the Canadian <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">HGTV</span> show <a style="color: rgb(204, 102, 0);" href="http://www.hgtv.ca/homeheist/">Colin &#38; Justin's Home Heist</a><span style="color: rgb(204, 102, 0);">.</span>  There are some great transformations and these in particular stood out to me because of the color schemes.  I love the natural wood and wicker against the white and sea-foam green-blue.  I love everything about the dining room, from colors and objects to their placement.  This is the one scheme I have seen in which the <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">IKEA</span> <a href="http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50115555"><span style="color: rgb(204, 102, 0);"><span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">Leran</span> pendant lamp</span></a> fits seamlessly. This person needs a level-headed color to anchor this room.  After all, you want the guests to stay a while.
