Another chunky wool rug is now on sale at West Elm if you want the knit rug look and don’t have the knitting dedication of Christien.

Christien’s pouf is available through DWR for $800. And there’s the rattan pouf at Urban Outfitters. It’s not soft wool, but it has a similar shape and look for only $88.

I liked the blue shelves and white pottery combo spotted earlier in a pottery shop in Oregon. I now found this chartreuse creation in a clothing boutique in old town Ventura, California where foreground meets background. Would you do something like this in your own home?

My favorite is the lounger and foot rest. The pictures on their site show off a bit of the designers’ personality and demonstrate how each of their storage and furniture pieces would appeal to the different consumer personalities.

I love this concept and the color of the book case. This picture is from Rachel Smith’s interior photographs portfolio. Here is the shelf in white with the chair pulled out. To get a sense of his vision you can read an interview with the designer. He also did a book shelf that hides a table and chair.

I love furniture that is multi-functional and helps you save on space. Remember the transfarmoire? And how about the pick-chair?

How sweet is this hotel lobby? I love the colors, the composition and the incredible wall mural. It is so richly earthy I think I feel sand in my teeth. I love my wine full, earthy and almost velvety. I think this composition yields all of the above. This is the Mapungubwe Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa and the mural is of Mapungubwe Hill.

How easy would this be to make? This desk uses a similar idea, but rather than a swinging action, opens up by pulling the desk top and side piece out.

This next one is our own creation and we call it the “Transfarmoire.” It is an armoire that transforms into an editing studio for our film editing needs.

We used the second shelf that came with the armoire as the desk top piece, bought some wood at the hardware store for the legs, stained them the same color and attached the legs using swinging hinges. We bought an IKEA keyboard tray and drilled wholes to allow mobility of the tray. It’s great being able to put it all away and help keep the equipment dust free.
